Emotions are set to run high in the Barlow household in Coronation Street tonight as the soap focuses entirely on the devastating story of Sinead Osbournes cervical cancer. Following Sineads sudden collapse, Ken is forced to break the tragic news of her diagnosis to Daniel, who flies off the handle and immediately starts blaming his dad for not telling him.
Peter tries to calm the situation down and reasons with Daniel that while Ken is guilty of many failings as a father, he was only respecting Sineads wishes. Peter persuades Daniel that his focus needs to be on Sinead.
Daniel visits Sinead and asks her to have an abortion but she tells him in no uncertain terms that she wont be doing that and he assures his panicked wife that he will be there for her every step of the difficult journey ahead.
But when Ken hears his sons ripping him apart as a father, he is crushed – will this tear another gaping rift in the family right when they need to be sticking together to get Sinead through the most terrifying ordeal of her life?

The episode breaks with Corrie tradition and will only feature Daniel, Sinead, Ken and Peter as main characters throughout – but with anger, revelations and devastation aplenty, its going to be an emotional rollercoaster.
William Roache said of the Barlow special: When Daniel does find out Ken gets the full blast of all the pent up resentment that Daniel has lurking because he was an absent father. Its a great episode, drawing on their history and bringing all those things together. One of the things I love in Coronation Street is how it draws on its own history, in this case the history of Ken being a bad father.
I love it when were working in the Barlows, Im very fond of them all in real life, Im really enjoying having a full house again. A few years ago there was just Ken, Tracy and Amy. Now theres Tracy, Amy, Daniel, Adam, Peter, Simon, Steve and Sinead as well, there are so many stories to tell.
Coronation Street airs this special episode on Monday 29th October at 8:30pm on ITV.
