Shefali Jariwala on her web show Baby Come Naa: There isnt any strong language or nudity

Kaanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala is set to make her acting debut with AltBalaji show Baby Come Naa.
After being the “Kaanta Laga” girl for 16 years, Shefali Jariwala wants to change her image. In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, Shefali, who has done over a dozen music videos, shared why she hopes her latest web series Baby Come Naa will open new avenues for her.
“This is a transition that was long overdue. I was so happy in my comfort zone which was dancing. But after a point, you feel the need to grow, otherwise everything becomes boring. Naturally, the next step for me was acting,” Shefali shared.
Baby Come Naa is an adult comedy series backed by AltBalaji and also stars Shreyas Talpade, Kiku Sharda, Chunky Pandey and Mansi Scott. It joins a list of 22 original shows produced by AltBalaji, the digital wing of Ekta Kapoors Balaji Telefilms, and begins streaming from November 1.

Talking about her acting debut, Shefali said, “I am somebody who is very lucky. “Kaanta Laga” just fell into my lap and even Baby Come Naa. Sharing stage with such comedy veterans was so exciting. There was no way I could say no to it. Also, I love Balaji. Ektas casting sense is amazing and they really take care of the actors. I think to myself, why I didnt do this earlier?”

She further spoke on why despite having adult content, the AltBalaji web show is a clean comedy. “There is absolutely no strong language or nudity. But the dialogues are such that if you have a dirty mind, you will find dirt in it, otherwise you will enjoy without getting the other meaning. Its a very neat, clean comedy. It is like a David Dhawan film, very colourful and funny.
“The web audience is predominantly youth and I believe the youth really enjoys this kind of comedy,” she opined.
Shefali Jariwala made her screen debut with the song “Kaanta Laga” in 2002.
So, did she feel typecast after her debut song “Kaanta Laga”? “The typecasting always happens but I am a very positive person. There are so many people who are working so hard for so many years and my first song did that for me. There can be no other Kaanta Laga girl in the world. And I am so proud of it. After my first acting stint, I feel confident as an actor, but I have much to learn, much more to learn,” Shefali, who also made a cameo in Akshay Kumar film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, said.

Is she open to doing television shows as well? “I just feel that web is my space. I dont see myself doing the saas-bahu shows, it has to resonate with me. I am hoping to do a lot more shows in web space now,” the dancer-turned-actor said.
Shefali Jariwala took part in Nach Baliye 5 along with her husband Parag Tyagi.
Shefali, who had participated with her husband Parag Tyagi in Nach Baliye 5, however, added that she would love to do reality shows on TV. “Reality shows are a lot of fun, especially dance reality shows. I wanted do Nach Baliye with Parag because he was an absolute non-dancer and we had such a good time. So, if anything fun comes up, we are open to it,” she shared.
