Andrew Lincoln is leaving his long-running post on The Walking Dead and as Rick Grimes makes his final turn on the AMC show on Sunday night, his cast mates have something to say.

And its an understatement to say its all very, very emotional.

As current and past members of the cast waxed lyrical on their mate Andy, its clear hes going to be so missed on set each day, in a video uploaded to TV Line, made by AMC for the stars big farewell.

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, said in the tear-jerking clip: Andy is one of the most kind and generous people that you could ever work with.

Former cast member Sonequa Martin-Green added: To see someone who has that level of excellence and maintains that level of excellence, brings it out in you.

Were still not over Steven Yuens departure as Glenn, but he even made us tear up even more as he said: I keep racking my brain to figure out something to say and every single thing kind of fails that, so all I really wanted to say is Andy, I love you.

Hes taught me to be a better father, a better friend, a better actor, Norman Reedus said on how dear he is to the actor. Oh this is just too much.

Another added Rick drove an hour out of his way, on a day he wasnt working, just to have lunch with new additions at the time Michael Cudlitz, Christian Serratos and Josh McDermitt.

Its still unclear how Rick will leave the show and whether he will ride off into the sunset alive or leave the show as a dead man (although some people think theyve worked it out).

His late onscreen son played by Chandler Riggs said Andy was keen to get back to his young family in the UK, as he told Metro.co.uk: He misses his family. He leaves every single year for like seven months to go do this show. After a while, you want to raise your kids and spend time with your wife.

It comes after the chief content officer of the Walking Dead franchise Scott M. Gimple said the episode will be deadly. The whole show is about dead people, so guess hes not wrong on any count.

Its deadly, right out of the gate, he told The Hollywood Reporter about Ricks last ep. Its pretty heavy. Its deadly immediately.

There will be a pause of deadliness for a little while, and then? Giddy up.

When Lincoln announced his imminent departure at this years San Diego Comic-Con, he planted the seed in fans minds that he may one day return.

He said: This will be my last season playing the role of Rick Grimes. It means everything to me.

My relationship with Mr Rick Grimes is far from over.

And, frankly, were not ready for it to be over.
