Petta new poster: Petta is directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

In a big surprise, a poster from upcoming Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Petta was released on Wednesday, revealing the character of actor Simran, who is playing one of the female leads in the film. The poster features Rajinikanth and Simran walking in the opposite direction of a huge crowd.

“Im super happy OMG I cant believe its happening just pinched myself(sic),” tweeted Simran, who has worked with Rajinikanth for the first time in Petta.

“Here it is….. #Petta new poster featuring gorgeous Simran madam and Ever charming n Ever Stylishhh Thalaivaaaaa…(sic),” tweeted Petta director Karthik Subbaraj. In the same tweet, he also confirmed that his big-budget action film with Superstar is getting ready to light up screens during Pongal next year.

Petta is Subbarajs maiden collaboration with Rajinikanth. For the first time, actors Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi will be sharing screen space with arguably the biggest star of their generation, Rajinikanth. It is also Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiquis first Tamil film. Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for his first Rajinikanth starrer.

Petta also stars Malavika Mohanan, Megha Akash and Bobby Simha among others in important roles.

Petta was filmed in different parts of the country. Karthik Subbaraj shot the film at a breakneck speed and completed the shooting two weeks ahead of schedule. “Its a wrap for Petta. 15 days ahead of schedule. I thank Sun Pictures, Karthik Subbaraj, DOP Tirru and the entire team involved,” Rajinikanth tweeted earlier.

The post-production work of the movie is in full swing. Now, its also clear that Petta will lock horns with Ajiths Viswasam at the box office during Pongal.
