The X Factor may not be bringing in the massive viewing figures from its heyday but its still bagging in the biggest names in the business, as ABBAs Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus will perform over the coming weeks.

The X Factor wouldnt be The X Factor without an obligatory ABBA week, and this year Simon Cowell is following tradition to celebrate the release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – aka Mamma Mia 2 – on DVD.

Following news they were back in the studio together for the first time in 35 years, ABBA were pencilled in to film a BBC special to launch their new single.

Naturally, Simon has seized the opportunity to bag Benny and Bjorn for himself.

ABBA are one of the worlds greatest bands and it will certainly give the show a big lift having Benny and Bjorn on board, an insider told Daily Star.
The pair are tipped to give The X Factor contestants a masterclass.

The deal will hopefully give The X Factor a huge boost, as ratings continue to dwindle during whats been a fairly dodgy series from start to finish.

Two weeks ago, bosses were forced to pull the plug on the public vote after the live show – which wasnt live – suffered huge sound glitches and caused contestants, Danny Tetley and Anthony Russell, to sound like daleks.

Sharon Osbourne has since put The X Factors downfall on Simon for switching up the format year-on-year.

Unfortunately, not out of malice, but I am only saying this because Simons quote thinks it is funny, that the figures have dropped, and dropped and dropped through the course of the show, Sharon told The Sun.

I am not saying it was all me at all, but [its because of] his decision to change the show again and again and again.

Regardless, ITV have renewed The X Factor for another four years with hopes the music mogul can somehow convince its once fiercely loyal fanbase that theres life in the talent contest yet.

The X Factor continues tonight at 8.10pm on BBC One.
