Malavika, who is on cloud nine with the films success, said, “The success gives me more confidence. As an actor, its important for me. Because when a director narrates the script, you cant always be sure that its going to work out. But, with director Rahul Sankrityan, I knew that apart from my part, all the humour works.”

Revealing what made her accept the role in Taaxiwala, she said, “The soul of the film is Shishiras character and you feel sorry for her. The layering of my character and how it was important in the movie made me accept the film.”

“A lot of what we shot couldnt actually make it into the film,” Malavika Nair added.

Does Malavika only prefer pivotal roles like Shishira instead of female lead characters?

“Yes, I am looking for important characters. In the case of Mahanati, I just wanted to be a part of something like a biopic of Savitri. When it comes to Taxiwaala, the whole idea of my character Shishira is the main essence of the film. The actor in me wanted to accept Mahanati and Taxiwaala,” the actor said.

She also shared her two cents on the #MeToo movement.

“Harassment is there across every industry. It doesnt even have to be only Tollywood. I think its very important that conversations like this have been started. I feel its a little too late. Personally, I havent experienced anything that can be characterised as sexual harassment. But there is a day to day discrimination against women. But that doesnt make Tollywood bad and doesnt make Tollywood worse than any other industries. The fact is you have to acknowledge it and change it,” Malavika Nair said.
