Paddy Kirk finally finds a way to grieve after the death of his baby daughter after struggling for weeks to feel anything following her death in Emmerdale.
Paddys relationship with Chas came to a head this week after she decided she couldnt bear to look at him any longer, feeling that he couldnt seem to connect with their daughters death. But in truth Paddy just wasnt quite ready to grieve for Grace, who died hours after birth of bilateral renal agenesis.
After he was kicked out of their home, Paddy took a trip to the tree where hed scratched Graces initials into the bark, and as he ran a finger over the symbols, his grief came in a flood.
He collapsed against the tree trunk and sobbed as he finally felt the gravity of his loss.
Chas, none the wiser to his pain, told her mum how she couldnt bear to have him around any longer and callously binned the angel hed bought to represent their baby on top of the Christmas tree.

Marlon later discovered him packing his bags and desperately tried to convince him to stay, but Paddy broke down, telling him hed finally managed to get in touch with his emotions after realising hed never hear baby Grace call him dad, and that he believed hed never have a child of his own. He decided to leave the village for a little while to get his head together and to give Chas space.
The vet then visited Chas to say goodbye, but kept his emotions to himself as he told her hed decided it would be easier not to see each other. As the grieving mother remained silent and unmoved at his attempt to reach out, Paddy realised saying anything else would be futile and left to grieve alone away from the village.
Will Paddy decide to stay away for good? Or will Chas finally soften towards him and make him return?
