Doctor Whos Jodie Whittaker appears to be getting a twitch of the Tom Baker with an eccentric long scarf in the first look at the New Years special.

As fans mourn the loss of the beloved Christmas special (were still not over it), viewers have been teased with what they can expect when Team Tardis returns for the start of 2019.

At least were getting the New Years Day special, and in whats turning out to be classic Chris Chibnall, Thirteen is giving another little throwback to Doctors gone by.

Long-term fans of Doctor Who will pick it up immediately – as Thirteen wraps up for winter, she takes inspo from one of her previous generations – a huge, oversized scarf.

Its a scarf that harks back to the days of Four – aka Tom Baker, who played the fourth regeneration of the Doctor from 1974-1981.

Chris Chibnall has definitely been feeling a little nostalgic as showrunner and has on more than one occasion given a little nod to other regenerations of the Doctor, keen to keep its history in tact.

Granted though, its not the exact same scarf, but its still a pretty cool nod.

However, its not all happiness and light (because where would the fun be in that) as another picture of the team together sees them inspect a collection of bones in what appears to be a police investigation.

Are they about to get involved in a hunt for a murderer? How very Broadchurch!

Its already been confirmed that the show will happen back on Earth as the Doctors new pals Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yaz (Mandip Gill), head back to their home planet after their Tardis adventures.

However, weve been warned that a terrifying evil is stirring from across the centuries of Earths history.

So is the Doctors golden rule of not interfering with key moments in history about to be thrown out of the window as they collide?

Not too soon to find out (and until then, we have two more episodes of the series to look forward to).
