Chesney Brown is determined to do whatever it takes to help fund Sinead Osbournes cancer treatment in Coronation Street – even if that means breaking the law. When Sinead is told that her cancer has spread in the wake of her boycotting chemotherapy in favour of complementary treatments, she is told that she needs to restart chemo right away.

Beth Sutherland is shaken by her nieces plight and researches a specialist clinic in Germany – however, she is dismayed to learn that it will cost thousands. At work, she is thoughtful when she sees Carla Connor taking money out of the safe and after Beth notices the combination, Kirk catches her considering criminal action.

Later, knowing how much Chesney cares for Sinead, Beth urges him to fake being mugged of the takings at the kebab shop. As Chesney holds the money, a balaclava wearing Kirk pounces and snatches it as Dev Alahan gives chase.

Sinead is bowled over when Beth gives her the money but when she spots the balaclava and hears of Chesneys mugging, Sinead realises what has happened and she hands Dev the money back, saying she found it dumped by the bins.

Later, Dev examines the CCTV and is curious as to why Sinead lied about it being by the bins. When he threatens to get the police involved, Chesney takes the full rap, saying the plan was all his idea to fund Sineads treatment.

Will he lose his job and potentially his freedom?
