Young Sheldon and regular Sheldon finally came face-to-face in a Back to The Future style crossover that hinted at just how much he misses his dad.

The whole episode seemed like a hit but the ending, dubbed priceless and wonderful, had some fans loudly crying when Sheldon is motivated through a low spell, thanks to some rare words of encouragement from George.

I loved tonights episode! Who wouldve thought a comedy would make me tear up. I love Sheldon/Jim so much! I couldnt help but think during this scene that Jim was thinking of his own father.? #BigBangTheory https://t.co/41op0WauUT

Tonights #BigBangTheory was great crossover with @YoungSheldon they had to do it before Big Bang ended. I really enjoyed that emotional moment when he was talking about his father.

The episode sees regular Sheldon struggling to come to terms with the disproval of his thesis.

Luckily, Young Sheldon prepared an emergency pep talk for himself when he was nine, knowing that the only person who can talk Sheldon out of a funk was himself.

When Amy presents the tape, Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) earnestly listens to his own advice (delivered through the inimitable genius of child actor Iain Armitage) until the recording is interrupted by one of his dad Georges football matches, that appears to have been taped over the top.

Just when you think Sheldon will be down on his dad, the video reaches Georges own pep talk, delivered to the players at half time.

You learn as much from failing as you do from success, he tells the players, Now get out there and be men!

For Sheldon, its an important reminder that his dad faced failure too, and a realisation that maybe theyre not so different after all.

With that, he gets the motivation to dive back into the theory, and punches the air, saying: Thanks dad. Were going to give em hell.

Lots of fans couldnt help but break down at witnessing an emotional resolution for Sheldon.
