The finger-pointing over the demise of Daredevil is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Netflix surprisingly brought the much-loved Marvel show to an end last month, just weeks after the conclusion of its third season.

Its fair to say that that grave decision took plenty of people by surprise, from ardent Daredevil fans to members of the cast themselves.

After telling fans last month that she was heartbroken and surprised to learn of the shows cancellation, Daredevil star Amy Rutberg has now given her take on who she believes was ultimately behind the decision.

My contacts at Marvel were very surprised, Rutberg, who played Marci Stahl, told Inverse.

Any of the rumours that it was a Marvel decision are wrong, I think it was purely a Netflix decision.

That comes from personal conversations with people high up at Marvel. They were surprised.

Rutberg added that it had been presumed among the cast and crew that production on season four of Daredevil was only a few months away.

We had heard rumours [that] we would start production as early as February 2019, she said.

Its a little unusual to be that far ahead in the planning and cancel the show, which makes me think Netflix was labouring over whether or not to cancel it.

My guess was it was not an easy decision.

Its certainly not been an easy decision to accept for everyone connected with Daredevil, either.
