Doctor Who loves to play about in time and space – and just because theyve changed form (and gender) doesnt mean they cant give nods to their former selves.

Throughout Jodie Whittakers first full outing as the Doctor, Chris Chibnall gave loads of little throwbacks to keep fans happy with some easter eggs to throwback to Doctors of days gone by.

Did you spot them all?

Heres our rundown…

Jodie Whittakers regeneration had fond memories of playing the white-haired Scotsman (Picture: BBC)

Doctor Twelve: Peter Capaldi

Fresh from her transformation, Jodie Whittakers Doctor wastes no time in remembering her former self.

Confused from her regeneration and crash landing straight onto a train in the middle of Sheffield, shes accosted by policewoman Yaz for questioning.

Why are you calling me madam? The Doctor asks, as she is informed that shes now a woman?

Really? Does it suit me? she asks. Sorry, half an hour ago I was a white-haired Scotsman!

So it appears her memory was in full working order from the outset.

Stop trying to make Fez happen, Doc (Picture: BBC)

Doctor Eleven: Matt Smith

Even the most newbie Whovian couldnt miss this little throwback – as in episode Kerblam, The Doctor is delivered Matt Smiths iconic Fez.

Try as he might, Eleven just couldnt quite get the fez to make a comeback, despite his assurance that fezzes are cool.

It was eventually shot into smithereens by River Song, with the help of Amy Pond, during the episode The Big Bang all the way back in series five.

But it appeared that the determined Doctor wasnt going to take the hint that shooting it into oblivion meant it wasnt the best look, and ordered another one.

Thirteen remembered her time with Agatha Christie – and a giant wasp (Picture: BBC)

Doctor Ten: David Tennant

Back in series three, Ten and then partner-in-crime Donna Noble made a quick trip to the 1920s to and became part of a real-life murder mystery with Agatha Christie.

Though, because it is the Whoniverse after-all, it didnt take long for the show to get an extra-terrestrial twist and by the end of the episode they were in a car chase with Christie at the wheel, being chased by a giant wasp.

Yaz spurred on the throwback on in Kerblam! by saying that the Doctor was like a kid prodding a wasps nest – which obviously clicked in the Doctors memory.

Talking about wasps, did I ever tell you about me and Agatha Christie? she commented back.

Seems Thirteen is the queen of the not-subtle humble brag.

Christopher Ecclestons Nine witnessed the Tardis transform a Slitheen into an egg (Picture: BBC)

Doctor Nine: Christopher Eccleston

Christopher Eccleston was only around for one season but there was still a little throwback as a nod to the short-lived Doctor.

In the Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, The Doctor was talking about the powers of the Tardis, and made reference to a period of time she was Nine.

Revealing the Tardis had once turned a Slitheen back into an egg, the moment was actually what happened to Margaret Blaine all the way back in 2005 episode, Boom Town.

In the episode, the Tardis granted the bad character (who had become Cardiffs mayor) the opportunity for a new and better life by doing so.

Thirteen took a little fashion inspo from Four (Picture: BBC)

Doctor Four: Tom Baker

Ahead of the New Years Day special, the BBC released a first look at our festive Doctor Thirteen – wearing an scarf just like the character did in the 80s.

Granted though, its not the exact same scarf, but its still a pretty cool nod.

Tom Bakers version of the character became known for this fashion accessory – and so its no coincidence its made a bit of a comeback, if only for the festive period.
