The jokes in this weeks episode of Derry Girls almost wrote themselves as the cast took on an Irish wedding in The Curse.

But one scene in particular gave viewers flashbacks of every Irish wedding theyd ever witnessed, when the familiar tones of Hues Corporations Rock The Boat began playing.

As Saoirse Monica Jacksons character Erin began trying to convince her pals to buy some drugs, all was forgotten when the classic came on and the entire wedding party threw themselves on the floor in a line to do the choreography.

OMG a major 80s flashback watching #DerryGirls with Dont rock the boat” one viewer pointed out.

Rock the boat is a dangerous sport so it is… another warned.

Getting flashbacks of weddings when I was little with the Rock the boat scene, another fan pointed out, summing up everyones feelings.

However, others were less than impressed, claiming that the unforgettable moves the characters were showing off are meant to be coupled with The Gap Bands Oops Upside Your Head.

Am I the only one yelling at the screen, “Thats not Rock the boat dance!!! Its ooops up side your head! OOOPS UP SIDE YOUR HEAD!” one perplexed viewer asked.

Nooo! Everyone knows that you do the boat dance to Oops Upside Your Head by the Gap Band, NOT to Rock the Boat by the Hues Corporation, another fumed.

I have one question! Why do they do Oops up side your head dance to Rock the Boat? one more fan considered.

The Irish are well and truly divided.

But safe to say, not everything during the episode, which guest starred Ardal OHanlon, was as harmonious as getting together for a good boogie, with Ma Mary getting into quite the row with an elderly aunt – who later died, turning the wedding into a funeral.

Theres a lot to unpack.

Derry Girls airs Tuesdays at 9.15pm on Channel 4
