A man by the name of Rob Ostlere has revealed he was the very first to die on Game Of Thrones, out of a reported 175,000 other grisly fatalities.

He played Waymar Royce who was epically sliced in two by a white walker as he rode through the Haunted Forest.

In the shot, we see the Nights Watchman ride along before dismounting and coming across a bloodbath.

As he stands and surveys the scene, a White Walker, with glowing white eyes, creeps up behind him before brandishing his sword, swings and the scene cuts.

It was a pretty ominous and forboding way to introduce the show that soon took over our lives, but here we are.

On filming that particular death scene he said they did film the bit where he is cut in two but it was deemed too graphic.

This from the show that ended up showing a man having his head exploded.

They get a bit of green tape which they put across your body and then theres that horror movie type scenario where one half of your body goes one way and one half goes the other, he explained.

The first actor to die in Game of Thrones auditioned for Jon Snow Picture: HBO

He really didnt last long (Picture: HBO)

You fall right first and then you fall the other way and then they put those two together in the studio. It was very fun filming it.

However, in a mad twist of fate, the poor lad who met his maker five minutes into the first episode in series one had originally auditioned for the role of Jon Snow.

As we now know Kit Harington was the actor that took on that role and the rest was history.

For Rob, though, the actor has a pretty impressive story to now crack out at dinner parties for eons to come.

I auditioned for Jon and Theon [Greyjoy] and all sorts of main parts, he reveals.

Theyd ask me if Id like to audition for, say Theon. Theyd say, “Oh do you want to have a look at this part?” and you would come in the next day and have a look and study every reference of the given character in the original books, highlight it, make notes.

He added to iNews: With Jon I just had to give it my best and sometimes you dont quite get the essence of them – some of them stick well with you, some of them dont.

I always liked auditioning for the characters who were kind of arrogant, a little bit of attitude.

Jon is still kicking about – as is Theon, quite remarkably – as we approach the final chapter of the fantasy epic based on George RR Martins books.
