Britains Got Talent viewers were left in tears as Ant McPartlin returned to screens for the first time in nearly a year.

The 43-year-old was reunited with Declan Donnelly on the ITV show after taking a backseat from the spotlight, following his arrest for drink-driving and a brief stay in rehab.

After taking the entire year off from his TV duties, one child contestant from the Flakefleet Primary School contestants basically summed up the nation when she jumped into his arms and whispered: Ive missed you.

Cradling the little girl, he told her: I missed you too.

Honestly, it is probably the most emotional moment of TV weve seen this year.

And distraught fans rushed to Twitter to praise the adorable scenes.

Ant took a break from hosting duties last year after he was arrested for drink-driving.

He was found to be more than twice over the legal limit when he smashed into two cars, and was handed a £86,000 fee, before checking into rehab for a second time.

And Declan revealed he considered splitting with his Ant and Dec co-host over the news, after almost 30 years of working together.

In a candid chat with The Guardians Weekend magazine, the 43-year-old branded the offence indefensible, explaining he would be lying if he hadnt thought about turning his back on their bond, but ultimately just wanted his best friend healthy and happy.
