Love Islands Caroline Flack has defended the show once again after Jameela Jamil asked if the producers were drunk because of their lack of body diversity in the shows cast.

Sharing a photo of this years Islander Anna Vakili, TV presenter and Good Place actress Jameela slammed the show for deeming her a plus-sized person in the eyes of the shows casting.

Anna, 28, has been compared to Kim Kardashian thanks to her defined hourglass shape, but tight stomach, however it should be noted that the ITV2 team have never outright called her the plus-sized star.

Now Caroline has also spoken out about the comments, and encouraged Jameela to, ironically, look beyond the face value of the show and watch it.

She told The Sun: Im a massive fan of Jameela and what she stands for. Im not in any way putting her down, I really like her. Of course, people will look at things on face value and judge them, but the show is so much more than that, it really is.

Theyve just got to be right in that moment, they dont cast it because of what they look like, its whos in the right moment, she added.

Love Island bosses, when asked for comment on the issue themselves, responded the cast were chosen the way they were because they wanted people to be attracted to each other.

Its about people wanting to watch and them reacting and falling in love with another, series boss Richard Cowles explained.

Yes, we want to be as representative as possible but we also want them to be attracted to one another.

Host Caroline has remained a steadfast defender of the show after it has come under fire in the wake of the deaths of former islanders Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Admitting she was angry at the accusation the series was responsible for their suicides, Caroline encouraged people to look deeper.
