Love Island viewers are begging Joe Garratt to calm down after his possessive behaviour on last nights episode left him compared to stalker Joe Goldberg in Netflix thriller, You.

The young islander had been coupled up with surfer Lucie Donlan less than 24 hours before she was swiped from him by Tommy Fury in a newcomers steal twist.

Rather than let Lucie go, viewers became concerned that the sandwich seller had become too attached too quickly, and was starting to exhibit possessive behaviour when he got mad at her for going on a date with the boxer.

Despite Lucie having no say in the matter of the date (and even if she did, she had only been speaking to Joe for less than 48 hours) Joe told her that he didnt know if he could trust her when she returned from the date after having a good time.

Wanting her to commit to him as a potential couple, Lucie sought comfort in Amy, who told her it was too early to close off other options, and Curtis, who assured her it was her decision to make and no-one elses.

As Joe encouraged her to cut things off with Tommy in favour of him, Lucie was left in tears as she was torn between who to pick.

Rather than share a bed with either Joe or Tommy, she eventually spent the night on the sofa. In the morning she then admitted to Tommy she was swaying towards Joe.

Yup, three days in and theres already a fight over a girl and a love triangle. Its Love Island season alright.

However, viewers wanted her to be careful and warned her that Joes possessive behaviour so soon was a massive red flag – comparing him to stalker character Joe from Netflix smash-hit You.

In the fictional drama series, Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgely) went to extreme lengths to keep tabs on his girlfriend Beck – coming across as charming but removing anyone in his path as he did so.

Initially learning all about her via social media after becoming obsessed with her, Joe would also track her phone, and follow Beck to events if he didnt trust she was telling the truth.

While Joe Garratt is far from being even in the same league at this point, viewers still couldnt help but make the comparison to his early behaviour.

Viewers were quick to draw comparisons between the two and warned Lucie to keep an eye out for the red flags.
