Grab some frozen yogurt, motherforkers—youre going to need it for this one. Ahead of fan-favorite afterlife comedy The Good Places miraculous fourth season, creator and showrunner Mike Schur dropped a Friday bombshell that the next run of 14—yes, fourteen—episodes will mark the last for Eleanor (Kristen Bell), Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Jason (Manny Jacinto), Tahani (Jameela Jamil), Michael (Ted Danson) and Janet (DArcy Carden).

“After The Good Place was picked up for season two, the writing staff and I began to map out, as best we could, the trajectory of the show,” Schur wrote late Friday night in a note posted to the shows official Twitter page. “Given the ideas we wanted to explore, and the pace at which we wanted to present those ideas, I began to feel like four seasons – just over 50 episodes – was the right lifespan.”

Schur elaborated on the decision in a lengthy conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, in the process confirming the final year would film a bit more than the usual 14 episodes. “This has been a very special, highly concentrated thing that we've gotten to do for 53 episodes — because we're doing 14 episodes this season and doing an hourlong series finale,” he explained. “We're just chewing up story at an incredibly fast rate and it immediately makes sense that we would want to get out on our own terms and not feel like we were throttling back and moving more slowly or deliberately than we have to this point.”

Followers of the series will remember that—spoiler alert—Season 3 ended with the core cast overseeing a new “Good Place” neighborhood of their own, hoping to prove that people can better themselves enough to enter the real namesake afterlife. Schur naturRead More – Source
