Emmerdale spoilers: Rapist Lees mum Wendy cast to bring trauma to Victoria Barton

Emmerdale is set to introduce Wendy, the mother of Victoria Bartons (Isabel Hodgins) rapist, Lee. Cold Feet and Casualty star Susan Cookson is taking on the role. Victoria will first come face to face with Wendy in July and will be horrified to realise she doesnt believe the rape claims against her son – and is here to confront her over it.

Susan Cookson said: I am thrilled and delighted to be joining the community, both on and off screen, that is Emmerdale. I am also excited about tackling all the gritty and emotional storylines that are ahead for my character Wendy. Im thrilled to be playing such a fantastic character.

Executive Producer Jane Hudson added: Susan is a fabulous addition to the cast and we are delighted to have welcomed her onto the Emmerdale team. She is a brilliant actor and we cant wait for the drama Wendy brings to play out.

There is bound to be high drama when Wendy and Lee discover that Victoria is pregnant with his baby. But will they insist on continuing to blight Victorias life, leaving her in fear of never being able to escape what happened to her?
