Both Colby (Tim Franklin) and Bella (Courtney Miller) have been left reeling after Bella attacked Colby, leaving him with a head injury. After fleeing the Surf Club and being chased by Dean (Patrick OConnor), she confides in her brothers best friend about how she had no idea she was going to attack Colby. She doesnt know whats wrong with her, or why her rage is impossible to control.
Meanwhile, Colby confides in Dean and Willow (Sarah Roberts), saying he doesnt know how to deal with her anymore, as she has more problems than he can handle. Watching the situation from afar, Irene (Lynne McGranger) is deep in thought for a while before approaching Colby at the Pier with an offer – perhaps Bella should come and live with her for a while. With Irenes experience looking after troubled teenagers, and a rigid routine with house rules, she believes she has a chance at helping Bella. Although Colby is initially reluctant, he finally caves and accepts her offer in the aftermath of the attack.

Bella isnt about to make things easy for Irene when she is moved over to her house, refusing to engage with her during a discussion about house rules and ignoring any requests Irene asks of her. She escapes the house and comes across Raffy (Olivia Deeble) and Ryder (Lukas Radovich). When they learn of their situation, they defend Irene and suggest that Bella gives living with her a go.
When Bella returns home to Irene, she starts to thaw slightly, but when Irene asks her to wash up her dishes, she refuses point blank. Irene starts revoking privileges, saying shes grounded and cant watch TV. But when Bella starts getting around the punishments by having Ryder over instead, Irene starts to realise shes going to be a tough nut to crack.
