There are sad scenes ahead in Coronation Street as characters attend a funeral later this summer – in the wake of Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) getting sad death news. Accompanied by her friend Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), Emma will attend the funeral after learning that her dad is dead.
Bubbly Emma is normally at the centre of comedy storylines but things are about to take a serious turn, as Alexandra previously revealed exclusively to Metro.co.uk. And the discovery of her fathers death is just the beginning of a long running storyline where Emma learns that much of her past was based on lies.
Working in the same salon as her mother once worked, it will be revealed that Emma is the daughter of Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin). And when Emma learns that her late dad wasnt actually her biological father, she confronts her mum who drops the bombshell that the ever fertile Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is her dad.
As Emma reels both from the grief of losing the man who brought her up and also discovering that the local cabbie is her dad and that the monstrous Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is technically her stepmum, there will be some dramatic showdowns ahead.
Cast were spotted filming the funeral scenes on location as the summer heat blazed down on them while they wore all black. Samia can be seen taking refuge in the shade between takes with a bottle of water – cant say we blame her.
Despite the sad nature of the storyline, everyone looked in good spirits between takes, with cast and crew laughing and joking together.
