A killer will avoid jail after he pleaded not guilty by insanity because he believed his victim was a werewolf.
Pankaj Bhasin, 34, was on trial for stabbing 65-year-old Bradford Jackson to death in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia in July 2018.
On Monday, a judge accepted his plea of not guilty by insanity after a jury deadlocked at his murder trial earlier this year.
Jackson was found dead inside the window store he managed. Police found Bhasin naked in a car nearby and arrested him.
In court, Bhasins lawyer said their client had checked out of psychiatric hospital just days before the killing.
Hours before the murder, Bhasin stopped at the Four Seasons hotel in Georgetown in Washington DC, where hotel staff called security because Bhasin told them: People are going to die, NBC reported.
Bhasin then drove to Old Town and walked into Jacksons office at Window Universe, prosecutors said.

Bhasin allegedly responded stabbing Jackson 53 times with a box cutter. He also reportedly beat him and broke his neck.
He later told police and doctors that Jackson, whom Bhasin reportedly did not know, began turning into a werewolf as they spoke.
Bhasin said he had to kill Jackson to save 99 percent of the moon and planets, SF Gate reported.
