Friends, countrymen, rose lovers—the time to begin prognosticating about who will be the next Bachelor has commenced. Id argue theres no specific part of a season when a Bachelor and Bachelorette scholar should begin this process; its more of a feeling one gets when the shows eliminations start to unravel more like auditions—displays of a contestants sanity and decency in the face of an unexpected disappointment.

Case in point? Hannahs fan-favorite contestant Mike Johnson, for whom the luggage person tolled after a truly bizarre breakup date on Monday night. (Hannah cried about art a lot, then told him they were over.) Mike handled the rejection with relative grace—but hes got some strong competition.

Before we can start guessing about who the next Bachelor will be, though, we must determine who will win this season. My moneys still on Jed or Tyler C.—and given how giddy Hannah was during her date with the former this week, Im going to go ahead and guess the country crooners got this one in the bag. (Hopefully the fact that he apparently ditched a girlfriend back home to come on the show doesnt put too much of a damper on things.) Tyler C. seems like one of the strongest candidates in the bunch: Hes a total hunk, level-headed, and game for all of the shows wacky activities. We could do worse!

Then again, did you see Mike on Monday night? When Hannah sat before him, blubbing about how shed arrived early and felt overwhelmed because shes “never seen so much beauty,” he calmly, if confusedly, murmured, “You deserve it.” When Hannah described a painting of St. Catherine by saying, “It really just encompassed everything that Im going through right now, I think,” he held her gaze, encouraging her to take her time sorting through…whatever this was. He hugged her. He smiled and asked if she was okay. And when she finally got around to telling him things were not going to happen between them? “I dont know what to say,” he said, “except thank you for being honest.” Tens across the board for that line.

Once he made it to the breakup van, Mike got a little more glum—as all rejected contestants do—and moped about how Hannah crushed his heart. But thats all grist for the backstory mill once he becomes Bachelor, if he becomes Bachelor.

Theres a strong case to be made in Mikes favor: Hes charismatic and mature, and knows how to wear a cardigan to its full potential. He would be the shows first black Bachelor, following Rachel Lindsays season as the first black Bachelorette in 2017. Fans have been clamoring for Mike to assume the mantle for weeks—but lets not forget the other candidates.

First, theres Connor S., who also went home Monday. To be honest, he stands little chance of becoming the Bachelor. Although hes charmed fans with his kind temperament, hes also failed to grab enough screen time to really stand out. Hes also a bit younRead More – Source
