Billy Connolly to return to TV with US adventure despite Parkinsons diagnosis

Billy Connolly will be returning to TV six years after his Parkinsons disease diagnosis.

The Scottish comedian, 76, retired from stand-up last year as his health deteriorated, but hes now heading on a trip across the US for a new ITV show.

Billy Connollys Great American Trail is reportedly airing in three-parts, and will follow the route Scottish immigrants took back in the 18th century, according to The Sun.

But after ITV producers offered him a new adventure in the US, where he has spent half his life living, he decided it was too good to miss, a source told the paper.

Its going to be welcome news for his fans who thought he was going to be retiring for good.

The star was reportedly filming during March and June in the States.

The stars frank honesty about his Parkinsons diagnosis – as well as his ever-present positivity – has been praised by fans as the degenerative brain condition affected his motor abilities.

In documentary Made in Scotland, he told audiences: I can feel it and I should. Im 75, Im near the end. Im a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning.

But it doesnt frighten me, its an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away, as bits slip off and leave me, talents leave and attributes leave.

His wife Pamela Stephenson later shared a video of Billy singing a song about the confession where he reassured fans that he was not dying.

While strumming on the guitar, he can be heard singing: Not dying, not dead, not slipping away.
