Its only been out two weeks but Amazon has already revealed that The Boys has become one of their most successful shows ever.

The superhero series, created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Eric Kripke, already earned the title of Amazons highest rated original on IMDb, but after two weeks its also become the most viewed too.

No wonder its already been given the green light for season two.

Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, announced on Friday: We are thrilled that The Boys have surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers.

This creates great momentum and excitement for us as we get ready for season two.

Production on season 2 has already begun so viewers who have zoomed their way through the first season wont have to wait too long for their new faves to get back on telly.

Speaking about the success of the show, Eric Kripke added: Im so beyond thrilled with the response to season one, and mainly its made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on season two.

I dont want season two to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season.

Its my one and only goal to make season two even better than season one.

The Boys has become a smash success thanks to its wacky brand of comedy combined with the ever –popular superhero genre – with a cast including Chase Crawford to boot.

Originally based on the comics of the same name, the show has already deviated from what was written, forging a path to create its own identity in future seasons (like The Walking Dead did)

As the most obvious example, Karl Urbans character Billy came face-to-face with the man he believed raped and killed his wife Becca, another super called Homelander (Antony Starr).

In the comic books, Billy fully goes off the rails on the discovery that Becca and Homelander actually had a child together in secret. Becca later dies in front of him and Billy kills the kid in a rage.

However, in the season one finale, Homelander reunites Becca and Billy and introduces their child – an eight-year-old boy.
