President Donald Trump has kicked September off by making incorrect statements about Hurricane Dorian being likely to hit Alabama.

Not only that, but he has apparently doubled down on these statements in a White House video released on Wednesday.

In the video, Trump was seen holding up a chart of the hurricanes trajectory dated August 29 which seemed to have been doctored with a Sharpie – or similar marker pen – to extend the possible path of the storm to include Alabama.

This has sparked an uproar, and many have questioned whether its against the law to knowingly and falsely represent official government weather forecasts.

Trump first took to Twitter on Sunday to say that Alabama would be one of the states which would be badly impacted by the now-Category 3 hurricane.

He said: In addition to Florida – South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated.

Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!

The National Weather Service soon refuted this claim via Twitter from their office in Birmingham, Alabama by saying: Alabama will NOT see any impacts from #Dorian. We repeat, no impacts from Hurricane #Dorian will be felt across Alabama.

The system will remain too far east. #alwx.

Even so, Trump repeated his claims that the state would be hit by Dorian at a press conference at the headquarters of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

He said: Alabama could be in for some very strong winds and something more than that, it could be.

He added: So, for Alabama, just please be careful also.

On Wednesday, Trump then presented a seemingly doctored version of a map similar to that which had been used on August 29 in
