EastEnders spoilers: Hunter Owen dies after being shot with a machine gun

EastEnders has ended its terrifying siege in tragedy as unhinged criminal Hunter Owen is dead after being shot by armed police after he gunned down both Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).

Hunter had escaped prison and had been on a mission of revenge against Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), the man he believed was responsible for his destroyed life. Things quickly got out of hand when a struggle ensued and Ben was shot in the melee.

Callum Highway (Tony Clay) cradled him and kept him talking while Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) performed a makeshift operation with a knife and a biro to ease the collapsing lung that could kill him at any time.

Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) was desperate to get through to her son and took the risk of standing up to talk him through things. He ranted that he didnt trust her after she lied and made him think he could have a family life with her and Ray when all the time she was planning revenge.

He said that he was going to shoot her but Mel knew he wouldnt do that and he was on the brink of lowering the gun when a phone rang and snapped him back into the moment. As he realised that his time was runnign out and with the Square swarming with armed police, Hunter grabbed Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) and left the building, holding a gun to her head.
