Anton Du Beke was slightly ecstatic about his partner Emma Barton on Strictly Come Dancing, taking some jovial swipes at his past contestants.

The 53-year-old professional dancer has often been bundled with the older celebrity contestants in Strictly history, including the likes of Anne Widdecombe and Judy Murray.

In the launch show of the 2019 series, however, Anton was partnered up with EastEnders actress Emma Barton – which left the dancer overwhelmed at the possibility of actually having a chance at winning the competition.

After he was partnered up, an elated Anton said: So this is what it feels like. Oh book me in till Christmas.

In response, Emma said: Im over the moon. My mum is going to be so happy.

As the pair went up to meet host Claudia Winkleman, Anton apologised in case he caused any offence to his past partners.

I apologise, Anton said. I know it seemed a bit sort of over reaction, but if youve been through what Ive been through, I cant begin to tell you.

Well lets leave it there because they might all have televisions, Claudia remarked.

Viewers were similarly elated for Anton.

Off first impressions, pairing wise I'm excited for Katherine and Johannes and Neil and Alex. Also love how excited Anton was ?#Strictly

I'm also glad Anton has got Emma. About time he had a chance.
