World On Fire stars Blake Harrison and Parker Sawyers are avoiding social media reaction to their new drama.

The actors are going to try and avoid reading the hashtag when World On Fire airs later this month.

Harrison, likely speaking from experience when fans reacted badly to the Inbetweeners 10th anniversary event Fwends Reunited, said negative feedback online can take you to bad mental places.

Speaking to press at the World On Fire launch, he said: think this will be one of those things that trends or something like that. Its a terrible idea to click on it and just swipe through.

I think its fine to look at your own feed because generally speaking, touch wood, people are generally positive when theyre tagging you in stuff.

You do get the odd time when people arent, but Ive found it very rare. Its generally really positive and thats lovely, thats really nice.

The actor, who plays Stan in World On Fire, added: You have to take it with a pinch of salt. Its easy to let things like social media suck you down this horrible little void of negativity. And it can lead you to some bad mental places, and it is hard to sometimes avoid it. But youve gotta try and do everything in your power to avoid it.

His co-star Parker Sawyers added that it wasnt a wise idea to look at what people were tweeting about, but came up with a solution.

We should invent an app that sorts out compliments versus whatever, he said.

I was really proud of it watching it, so I hope people view it and think like I do. Not just because Im in it, but because theres tons Im not aware of.

I really enjoyed it. But you never know how the publics gonna respond. You just cross your fingers and hope.

World On Fire starts 29 September on BBC One.
