NASHIK: PM Narendra Modi on Thursday sharply criticised “bayaan bahadurs (motormouths)” and “badboley (loudmouths)” for making “irresponsible” statements on building the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya when the Supreme Court was hearing the case.
“I am in Nashik, a city associated with Lord Ram. Some people have been speaking irresponsibly on the Ram temple in the past 2-3 weeks. When the SC is hearing the case and hearing all sides, why not have faith? With folded hands, I say to these people, for Lord Rams sake, have faith in the judiciary. Why create obstacles in the process? Every citizen of India must respect the apex court,” Modi said at a rally in Nashik to mark the culmination of CM Devendra Fadnaviss “Maha Janadesh Yatra”, undertaken before state polls.
The PMs rebuke comes in the backdrop of Sena chief Uddhav Thackerays statements this month on the temple issue. When the PM was in Mumbai during the Ganpati festival earlier this month, Uddhav had first raised the mandir issue in the PMs presence at a rally, saying just as the Centre had nullified Article 370, it should take steps to build the temple.
