NEW DELHI: The Congress on Thursday faced open dissent in both Maharashtra and Haryana, the two states where assembly elections will be held on October 21.
Two Congress leaders, Sanjay Nirupam in Maharashtra and Ashok Tanwar in Haryana, openly spoke against the party's ticket distribution for the coming assembly polls.
While Sanjay Nirupam announced that he will not campaign for the party in the elections, Ashok Tanwar accused the party of ignoring the interests of the grassroots workers who had worked tirelessly in the last 5 years.
Miffed at his lone recommendation being ignored, Sanjay Nirupam tweeted: "It seems Congress Party doesnt want my services anymore. I had recommended just one name in Mumbai for assembly election. Heard that even that has been rejected. As I had told the leadership earlier,in that case I will not participate in poll campaign. Its my final decision."
