PIERS MORGAN -star of Good Morning Britain – has admmitted to speeding on Twitter after being stopped by police yesterday on his way to the celebrity Paddy Power Golf Shootout.
Piers Morgan has explained how he was pulled over by police officers for speeding on Friday. The Good Morning Britain host claimed he was “late [and] rushing” at the time.
The 53-year-old spoke out in view of his 7.5 million Twitter followers about what happened prior to the Paddy Power Golf Shootout.
The outspoken journalist admitted to breaking the rules as he said those that stopped him had been both “polite” and “respectful”.
Piers revealed all in reply to a controversial video from July last year, which was published on the micro-blogging site in light of George Floyd’s death.
The upload was captioned: “Judge for yourself… when is gonna? #icantbreathe #GeorgeFloyd.”
The two-minute long clip showed Robert Morton being arrested for speeding and resisting arrest in the US by officer Brandon Berry.
He was heard questioning the reason for the authorities’ actions and he was later seen being wrestled to the group by Brandon and a colleague.
Piers commented: “I was caught speeding today, on my way to the #PPGolf charity day. No complaints, I was late, rushing & in the wrong.
“The police officers who stopped me were respectful, polite & treated me with dignity.”
The father-of-four added: “This black man got none of those things. What an inhuman disgrace.”
It comes after the killing of George Floyd and the civil unrest which has followed in the USA.
The death of the African-American man in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has prompted a global outcry over the scale of racism and police brutality that exists today.
He pleaded to officers “I cant breathe”, but Derek Chauvin continued to press his knee into his neck for almost nine minutes.
Piers had been competing against the likes Harry Kane and Peter Crouch at the Centurion Club in St Albans yesterday.
The former won the morning challenges alongside Tommy Fleetwood, however it was an almighty blunder that has since made headlines.
He was seen falling backwards off a chair, which sparked an hilarious response from Freddie Flintoff.
Jamie Redknapp was eventially named victorius, despite being an outsider.
Meanwhile, Piers had beforehand watched friend Kate Garraway’s heartbreaking interview with Ben Shephard on GMB.
He tweeted afterwards: “Such a moving, emotional, inspiring interview on @GMB with my fabulous friend @kategarraway about her familys #coronavirus turmoil.
“So proud of you Kate, as Derek would be too. Were all behind you, hoping & praying for a miracle.”
