9 lakh Covid tests conducted in a day: Health ministry

NEW DELHI: India scaled yet another high in daily Covid-19 cases with 77,266 new cases detected on Thursday while over 9 lakh tests were conducted for the consecutive day.
More than 1,000 new deaths were also recorded for the third consecutive day on Thursday, taking the total number of patients that has succumbed to the infectious disease to 61,529.
India conducted more than 1 crore Covid-19 tests in past two weeks taking the total number of tests to nearly 4 crore, health ministry said, highlighting the tests per million have increased to 28,607.
India has already created a capacity of doing 10 lakh tests per day. A total of 9,01,338 samples were tested in a span of 24 hours on Thursday taking the cumulative tests to 3,94,77,848 so far.
