NEW DELHI: In what seems as BJP ally LJPs determination to play hardball before the Bihar election, the regional outfit reiterated on Wednesday that its alliance is with the saffron outfit and its hardly concerned about the JD(U).
The party chief, Chirag Paswan has suggested to BJP president J P Nadda that BJP should contest in more seats than JD(U). Meanwhile, the LJP has welcomed senior JD(U) leader K C Tyagis comment that they had no alliance with LJP. The partys central parliamentary board met on Wednesday where the party MPs suggested that the LJP should put candidates against the JD(U) in each seat, sources said.
The MPs were also of the view that the party should not fight the election under the leadership of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.
“We have two options and we have made our stand clear. Paani gale tak pahoonch gaya hai (the water has reached the gale). Our alliance with the BJP and we will follow the coalition dharma. If the difference can be ironed out respectfully, then its fine; else we have Plan B ready, to put candidates only against JD(U). The second one seems a better one as of now,” said a senior LJP leader.
Amid speculations that the LJP might be posturing to get more seats as it has been repeatedly saying to have prepared a list of 143 candidates, sources said even if a negotiation is worked out LJP will seek tickets for “A category constituencies” where it has a high possibility of winning.
