Meghan Markle was already like a Duchess on Deal Or Nor Deal says Howie Mandel
Being the Duchess Of Sussex seems to be a role Meghan Markle was just meant to do.
Meghan was apparently slightly Duchess-y way back when she was a briefcase girl on the US version of Deal Or No Deal between 2006 and 2007.
Howie Mandel worked with Meghan on the show and felt she had the makings of a royal back then, years before she met her husband Prince Harry.
PEOPLE quotes him saying at the Television Critics Association panel: Not everybody will have an opportunity to meet royalty, but these are all accomplished people that have something substantial.
Theyre not just standing there holding a case — they have careers, they have hobbies, they have families, theyre entrepreneurial. So when somebody like Harry meets somebody who just happened to be on our show, theres a lot to offer.
He was asked what Megan was like on set, and replied: She was slightly duchessy.
The briefcase girls used to wear revealing dresses as they walked onto a stage holding a numbered silver case.
This would happen each episode as the contestants mulled over which numbered box to choose.
I would put that in the category of things I was doing while I was auditioning to try to make ends meet, Meghan told Esquire in 2013.
I went from working in the US Embassy in Argentina to ending up on Deal. Its run the gamut.
Definitely working on Deal or No Deal was a learning experience, and it helped me to understand what I would rather be doing. So if thats a way for me to gloss over that subject, then I will happily shift gears into something else.
Model Chrissy Teigen, who is married to John Legend, revealed that she used to work with Megan on Deal Or No Deal.
And she is pretty chuffed at her claim to fame, telling Ellen DeGeneres: I tell John all the time: “That could be me. I could be Princess Harry”.
Meghan married Prince Harry in May.
