Former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips doesnt seem to be entirely convinced by Seann Walsh and Katya Jones branding their kiss a mistake.

After speculation the photos of them locking lips were a set up – as the camera appeared to be reasonably visible as they were snapped outside a London pub – Arlene has waded in to say they couple were aware.

I dont quite think they did it deliberately, Im just saying they must be aware when they see every strictly dancer turning up to rehearsals with no makeup and the coffee cup in their hand in a newspaper, she told GMBs Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid.

I dont think anyone would think they could get away with that kind of a kiss and no body would notice.

Asked if the two should be booted from the show, Arlene argued that there was no need.

No, absolutely not, she said. There is no contract of moral code or behaviour between the judges and celebrities. They are all consenting adults and we the public and me and everyone else, we are not moral guardians of the people that perform on that show.

Asked whether this kind of thing is rife amongst contestants, the former judge said: I think theres a great physicality and its why people do fall in love with their partners.

The professionals should have boundaries. but in life….

Her comments came after Piers gave his stance on the whole saga – admitting that the couple might as well have full sex given that they got away with their snog.

After the couple were sensationally saved from the dance off in Sunday nights Strictly, Piers lamented over how the furore of them publicly cheating on their respective partners may have helped boost their profiles and keep them safe.

He added that if they want to see another week on the BBC dance show, they need to up their game.

Its supposed to be this warm cuddly show, but the absolute bile when these two stayed in, like “what? They didnt get executed?” Piers joked of the fierce reaction to them staying.

Id never heard of Seann Walsh, Id never heard of Katya, I dont know who Neil is, he continued.

But theyre in anyway, theyve stayed in. Hopefully theyll move to full sex this week and we can have a really good week.

He added that they might as well given that they got away with the kiss scandal, which saw them locking lips on a night out in London last week despite both having partners.

Wouldnt they? I would. Theyve got away with it, he said.
