After spending all day stony-faced in outer space, even Klingons need to let off steam.

Star Trek: Discovery star Mary Chieffo, who plays Klingon High Chancellor LRell, filmed herself dancing to Demi Lovatos Confident, and its a gold.

In the video posted on Twitter, Mary, wearing full Klingon makeup and costume, throws some shapes on set.

What really makes this video is that she lip syncs along and nails every single word.

Thats got to keep things light after spending hours in makeup to transform into LRell.

And her character is going to need to feel confident in Discovery season two as shes set to face backlash from some of her male colleagues now that shes High Chancellor.

He went on: Were mirroring so much of what is happening in our world now. And what shes dealing with is what every woman whos in a position like that, and not in a position like that, is dealing with when it comes to the way they are living in a patriarchy.

So, very much, that is what were tackling. And LRell is strong, and she is…you know, she has to meet their fire with – not just fire, but actually real consideration and thoughtfulness and strategy.

And its really interesting to see LRell grow into the leader that she becomes this season.

Executive producer Heather Kadin said: Sometimes, it can be hard for women to have a position of power without being questioned. I dont know if you are aware of that.

Meanwhile ex-Klingon actor Michael Dorn recently defended Chieffos heavy Klingon makeup on Discovery.

Speaking at Rose City Comic Con during a panel, Michael said: In a general sense, in every iteration of Star Trek – outside of Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and all those Klingons – the producers were trying to make it their own and put their own stamp on the Klingons.

So, they decided “We are going to do something different than everybody else.”…and I think that is what they came up with for Discovery.

Star Trek fans are going to have to wait until 2019 to watch the new series, but according to Kurtzman it is definitely going to be worth the wait as he wants to make sure its perfect before releasing it.

He said: Breaking story is, in some ways, the easier and faster thing; its the ability to execute on it thats much harder. We want to take the right amount of time and dont want to rush.
