Noel Edmonds has officially vowed to retire from TV if hes crowned winner of this years Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

The 69-year-old presenter is set to join this years series as a late arrival, joining the likes of Harry Redknapp, Fleur East and Nick Knowles.

His entrance into the series, however, could be a momentous occasion for his career in more ways than one – having promised to quit TV altogether if he emerges as King Of The Jungle.

Speaking about the British audiences, Noel said: After everything I have done with Gotchas and gunging, I am well aware they are going to put me through absolute hell and I deserve it!

I think the British public will enjoy seeing me finally getting my comeuppance! I just know they are going to really give me a hard time.

I am going to win because I promise the British public if they vote for me, I will retire from television and I will never appear again.

Noel has made his name hosting a variety of TV shows, including Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, Telly Addicts and Channel 4s Deal Or No Deal.

But what are Noels fears about heading Down Under? Well, considering hes a helicopter pilot, it might come as a surprise.

I am not great in confined areas, Noel said. For a helicopter pilot it is strange to admit I have a fear of heights.

You can overcome phobias when you treat them logically but I may well succumb. I am going to give it my best shot. Whatever I do, Im determined not to let people down.

I have a fear of letting people down. I am a team player.

Im A Celebrity continues on Wednesday ITV at 9pm.
