The Apprentice finalists Sian Gabbidon and Camilla Ainsworth have declared this series the Year of the Woman as they make the top two.

Tonight will see one of the two be declared the newest business partner for Lord Alan Sugar, and will be given a £250,000 investment prize to set them on their way.

But just making it to the end is an achievement in itself – especially seeing as the last all-female final happened five years ago.

Speaking to PA about their achievement, Camilla said: Were both northern. Were both female. Im 22 and Sian is 25. Its definitely the year of the woman.

Its the year of the northern woman, Sian said, before adding: I think that all this stuff about gender, race and anything else – it doesnt matter.

For Sian, its a swimsuit collection, and for Camilla, a nut milk for those with dairy intolerance.

But to get there, they both had to face some of the countrys leading entrepreneurs in Linda Plant, Claudine Collins, Mike Soutar and Claude who the remaining five candidates severely underestimated – to their peril.

If youve seen the show before youd be naïve to think he was going go easier on you, Sian told Metro.co.uk.

If anything, he knew us better than all of the other interviewers. With Claude, for me, the things he said hurt a bit more because I thought maybe he would have been a bit nicer, but he wasnt.

I agree, said Camilla. I maybe let my guard down a bit too much and then obviously – plot twist, he was really brutal.

I spent the whole process trying to get a smile out of him, to no avail. I think with him, for me, that was the harshest one.

Not harsh, but intense. I just so desperately wanted for him to believe in my business but you know, were here so silver lining.
