Mark-Paul Gosselaar has revealed what makes him upset about being recognised as Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell, and it perhaps isnt what youre expecting.

The 44-year-old actor made his name on the beloved US sitcom, which ran from 1989 to 1993 and spawned two spin-off series (Saved By The Bell: The College Years, Saved By The Bell: The New Class) and two movies in 1992s Hawaiian Style and Wedding In Las Vegas in 1994.

While Gosselaar has gone onto star in other shows like NYPD Blue and Franklin & Bash, its his Saved By The Bell youth which hes most recognised for to this day.

Asked by Metro.co.uk if being recognised for his first role almost 30 years later is an annoyance, Gosselaar gave an anecdote of an encounter with a security guard a few days prior.

I find it amusing, Gosselaar said. This just happened three days ago, Im on set and a security guard who was working came up to me and said, “Im a huge fan of yours. I grew up with, I watched Saved By The Bell, I just love you man.”

I said great, and he was like, “Oh Im just so glad youre working again.” Great.

You cant get upset with things like that. The only thing that gets me upset is I wish they knew I was on other things because possibly my shows wouldnt get cancelled if my viewers watched my shows.

But no, its endearing, it comes from a good place. Its not too often in your career you get to create an iconic character and thats exactly what we did. It doesnt bother me at all.

Gosselaar isnt shutting out his past either, revealing how hes open to a 30th anniversary reunion like their stint on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2015.

Asked about any reunion plans for the 30th anniversary, Gosselaar said: No, we havent discussed anything.

I think the last time we did something for the 25th was with Jimmy Fallon, so possibly he might have something up his sleeve which would be great. I think wed all gladly take up the offer if it was there to reprise that role with them.

Gosselaars next role is starring in an adaptation of Justin Cronins sci-fi novel The Passage, playing Federal Agent Brad Wolgast who takes it upon himself to protect Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney) from a deadly virus.

The Passage premieres on Tuesday 15 January on Fox UK at 9pm.
