Neil Gaiman has revealed some juicy behind the scene secrets of the upcoming Amazon adaptation of Good Omens.

The writer turned producer and editor has admitted that it was a complicated process and that episode one ended up at 75 minutes long and very confusing for people.

Joking that episode 1 now is about 52 minutes long and nobody watching it gets lost at all, even during the baby swap he went on to reveal that the team behind the series realised early on they were simply making a six-hour long film and so when episode five was too short and episode six was too long they simply moved bits of Episode 6 earlier.

Neils revelations came during a New Years Eve blog post, in which he also spoke of the work the team at MILK are completing for the special effects – including the big obvious ones like the M25 London orbital motorway turning into a flaming ring around London, or the huge floating head of Derek Jacobi filling Aziraphales bookshop, and the less obvious ones, like the missing details of our Soho street.

Starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen, this adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchetts novel looks set to be one of the big-hitters on Amazon Prime next year. W

The cast also includes Mad Mens Jon Hamm, Sherlocks Sian Brooke, Line Of Dutys Daniel Mays and League Of Gentlemen creators Mark Gatiss, Stephen Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith.

In the blog post, Neil also revealed that his goals for 2019 are to get Good Omens finished, to send it out into the world, and then to retire from full-time showrunning and, in my retirement, to start writing again.

I miss it, he added.

Good Omens will hit Amazon Prime at some point in 2019. Hopefully before the end times…
