Andrew Lincoln is having second thoughts about his decision to exit The Walking Dead at the time that he did.

Its been months since the lead actor bid farewell to the show as Rick Grimes, but now his former co-star Norman Reedus – who plays Daryl Dixon – has let the cat out the bag when it comes to Andrews regrets.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Norman explained Andrew has been rethinking the timing of his departure.

Its funny because I talked to Andy the other day, and he was like, “Man, I picked the wrong time to leave the show because its so f**king good right now”, he said.

Im like, “Yeah, you did, dude. You picked the wrong time.”

This comes after the showrunner Angela Kang explained that the AMC zombie apocalypse show will never be exactly like Robert Kirkmans comics.

A lot of stark differences have been made in the show as it continues into its ninth season, including the fact that Judith Grimes continuing to live on – despite being killed off in the books.

Talking about the time jump following Andrews departure as Rick Grimes at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, Angela explained last week: Theres a jump in the comics but you know we decided to go a little further ahead in time than the comics do.

I kind of felt like, “Okay, were writing out Rick… how do we promise that there is so much more cool story to tell with all these amazing characters that we have on the show?” So I thought it would be a really fun twist to jump that time at the end of his last episode.

Were all so inspired by the comics, Angela continued to Comic Book. Kirkman is such a master of the page-turner. You read it and its like a juicy, juicy, just fun comic book to read.

Theres so many wonderful, iconic moments in the comics. Moments you get to and just say, “Oh my God, I cant believe he just did that. I have to see this on screen!”

As writers, as with any fans of the comics, we have those same responses.

But with the show we have such a different array of characters and such different circumstances that its never going to be exactly the comic, nor should it be. Its a different medium.
