Holby City fans may have to brace themselves for tragedy in upcoming scenes as speculation mounts that the character of Bernie Wolfe (Jemma Redgrave) will die in a devastating twist after her son Cameron (Nic Jackman) receives bad news about her.
Bernie made her exit from the medical drama last year as she left for a new life, leading to her relationship with Serena Campbell (Catherine Russell) hit the rocks. The Berena fandom had a huge following and now it seems like the door will be firmly closed on the relationship and the character of Bernie.
The show is not confirming whether or not Camerons terrible news relates to a death for Bernie but ever since the synopsis of an upcoming episode revealed that he was going to have a distressing shock in store, fans of Jemma and Bernie have been preparing themselves for the worst.
Speaking about the decision to split up the characters, particularly with Bernie being long distance in Nairobi, boss Simon Harper previously told Metro.co.uk: Each year I sit down with Catherine to get her to stay and if I say youll be cooing on the phone to Nairobi its not that interesting to an actor. So #Berena is a double-edged sword. Holby has a reputation for splitting up characters, but its got to be exciting.
