Judge Rinder has revealed that he lied about dreaming of getting to Blackpool week when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

The barrister, real name Robert Rinder, notably took part in the BBC dancing series in 2016, and has now admitted that he was swept up in the moment when he admitted at the beginning of the series that going to the English seaside town was all he ever wanted.

According to The Mirror, he revealed: I have never, ever said something I didnt mean on TV.

But then he later backtracks: Oh gosh, actually, I did once.

On the first day at Strictly, the lights were blinding my eyes, I was dazzled by the sequins, staring down the barrel of the camera giving an interview and for some reason I said, “My whole life, all Ive ever wanted is to get to Blackpool.”

And for those who dont know, he and his partner, Oksana Platero, actually made it as far as the shows Blackpool week, as they came fifth that series, being eliminated just before the semi-final.

Seems he might have been embellishing this dream of his, though.

The 41-year-old also admitted that taking part in Strictly allowed him to see the differences in the way men and women were treated.

As a male I was permitted to do the show and just have the most delightful time. No one commented on how much weight Id lost, or asked if I was snogging my partner, he said.

I turned up on that Strictly launch show in a free suit I got for a wedding, which, by the way, I wear for every single TV appearance Ive ever done.

Well no one has ever batted an eyelid at me wearing that suit for three years straight.

He later revealed how he told his celebrity pal Nadia Sawalha to wear the same top two days in a row for Loose Women, and when she did, people were worried about her mental health, which Rinder referred to as insane levels of gender privilege.

The TV star also spoke about his experience on the show as he appeared on Loose Women, revealing he had a totally different experience to most other contestants.
