Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) has thrown a major spanner in the works after breaking to Robert (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron (Danny Miller) that shes not going to defend him in court.

Could this be the end of Roberts time in Emmerdale?

The pregnant rape victim broke down in tears as she told her brother that she was too scared to lie for him in court, after confiding everything that had happened to Marlon earlier that day.

After admitting that she didnt see her rapist Lee attack Robert– only the brutal blow to the face with a shovel that Robert delivered, Victoria admitted she had been torn up with guilt about the whole incident after discovering Roberts attack was a deliberate, and not defensive one.

Speaking to her brother as a horrified Aaron and Liv (Isobel Steele) looked on, she told him: Ive thought about this over and over and I just…I cant. I cant lie in court for you.

Explaining she feared it would make everything worse if she was caught out in her lie on the stand, Victoria teared up as she feared that she could end up being done for perjury.

Robert is currently facing a trial for GBH with Intent – which, if found guilty, could come with a life sentence for the Dales resident.

Its something thats been weighing heavy on everyones mind – made worse by his lawyer saying that he should plead guilty, as the physical evidence was stacked against him.

But Robert has remained determined to plead not guilty for his attack on Lee – saying he was only defending his sister, who is now pregnant with the predators child.

With Victorias testimony, one of the only pieces of evidence in Roberts favour, out of the window, does this mean the end for Robert?

Seeing as Ryan Hawley has announced that hes leaving the show to pursue other projects, it certainly doesnt look too good…

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
