TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is considering cancelling his trip to India scheduled to begin on Sunday, reported Reuters quoting Japan's Jiji Press.
Guwahati, the planned venue for a summit between Abe and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been engulfed in violent protests over the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
Yesterday, the ministry of external affairs had said there was no clarity on whether the government will go ahead with the India-Japan annual summit in Guwahati from December 15-17.
"We don't have any update to share," external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said at a weekly media briefing while replying to a volley of questions on the issue.
